Halstead is proud of its city parks, one of which has a "Hollywood" connection.

Riverside Park

The famous 1955 MGM movie "Picnic," starring Kim Novak, William Holden, and Cliff Robertson, was filmed primarily in Halstead's Riverside Park, located at the river confluence that marks the City's earliest beginnings.  The Old Settlers Picnic, held in Riverside Park is the oldest celebration in Harvey County and has been held every August, rain or shine, since 1887.  This park is located at Main and North Street and features the following amenities:

  • 2 Ball Diamonds

  • Picnic Area

  • Playground

Scout Park

This park is a well-developed one-block square park located near the center of town.  It is located at 3rd and Locust Street. Amenities here include:

  • Gazebo

  • Picnic Area

  • Playground

  • Restrooms

Williams Park

Williams Park is currently under development. It will be located on West 10th Street.

Warkentine Trail

This walking trail is located on top of the levee on north side of town. It is approximately 1.7 miles long.
 

Tennis Court

There is a tennis court at the high school.
