Pet Registration-There is a grace period of 30 days for new residents to tag their animals.
Dogs and Cats
Yearly registration and proof of rabies vaccination is required for all animals older than 6 months of age. There is a limit of 3 dogs and/or 3 cats six months of age or older per household.
The registration year shall be from May 1st through April 30th.The annual fee for each animal is $10. If neutered or spayed the fee is $4. A $5 penalty will be applied effective June 1st.
Yearly registration is required for any chickens within city limits. There is a limit of 12 chickens per residence. Chickens must have a shelter that is maintained properly and it requires an inspection by the Animal Control Officer. Roosters are strictly prohibited. You must obtain signatures from residents within 200 feet of your shelter with a majority of the heads of household consenting to the shelter.
The annual fee for chickens is $50. The registration year shall be from May 1st through April 30th.
Yearly registration is required for miniature pigs within city limits. Only 1 miniature pig is allowed per household. Initial registration requires a breeder's certificate or statement from a licensed veterinarian regarding the pig's breed. The following list of vaccinations is required erysipelas, leptospirosis, rabies, and a statement from a licensed veterinarian that the animal is free of pseudorabies. Pigs must be microchipped and proof must be provided. Any pigs over 3 months must be spayed or neutered. Owners must provide 2 contacts who are not in the same household willing to take the pig if it is ever found at large and the owners cannot be reached.
The annual fee for a miniature pig is $25. The registration year shall be from May 1st through April 30th.
